My lifetime goal is to be a scholar in international human rights law.
I have been accepted to pursue two advanced degrees at Keele University:
(1) Masters of Arts (MA) in Human Rights, Globalisation, and Justice; and
(2) Masters of Laws (LLM) in Gender, Sexuality, and Law
About my Work, Briefly:
I am a human rights advocate, future scholar, and activist. I stand for social justice and gender equity.
After I completed internships with Doctors Opposing Circumcision (DOC) and National Organization of Circumcision Information Resource Centers (NOCIRC), I traveled to Canada and Portugal to speak at conferences about circumcision, ethics, and human rights.
I traveled to England for four weeks and worked with the charities NORM-UK and Genital Autonomy. I have spoken about genital autonomy and feminism at Keele University, and I discussed human rights in the US at the Annual General Meeting for NORM-UK. Before I returned to the US, I presented original research on foreskin restoration and the male body at the University of Oxford.
After chairing a conference session and speaking at Oxford’s ‘The Beauty Project,’ I later was offered a position on the Conference Steering Group.
After returning to the US, I organized and chaired my university’s first academic conference about the medical, social, and religious ramifications of male circumcision. The conference featured internationally acclaimed speakers and received over 15 community sponsors.
I have managed to complete my Bachelors of Arts (BA) in Women’s Studies, speak at academic conferences internationally, and attend workshops while working full-time.
My Masters theses and research will be related to genital autonomy, medical and legal ethics, and human rights.
The total estimated tuition at Keele including accommodation for the MA and LLM combined is $55,000 US dollars. Because I am an “international” student, I am only entitled to a scholarship of 10% off per year. I am not entitled to European loans and grants (even though I have European citizenship).
Keele requires that international students pay yearly tuition in TWO installments.
I am selling everything I own- including a decade-old collection of Cher memorabilia- to try and raise tuition money.
I am grateful for your help and support in this journey!
